About mY LIFE IS OVER

mY LIFE IS OVER?
my family and i just moved to bakersfield, ca....i absolutely HATE it here....it's a freaking desert... my senior year in high school sucked cuz i was new in school, didn't know anyone. grades fell drastically. now, i'm currently working at walmart...part time....i would have gone to school but there's no good college here...and right now, i don't think i would be able to handle school... what the heck do i do next ? i desperately need a different job, cuz walmart definitely sucks balls...and i have no desire to go to college right now... i want a career in art tho.....fashion design and merchandising, specifically. i'm very good at art....i do have an eye for fashion.....specifically haute couture. i did take fashion merchandising classes at R.O.C. last year but i can't even get an internship cuz i'm not in college, so that sucks... wanted to move to los angeles, to go to FIDM there, but it's too expensive... what do i do ?

you're old enough to live on your own right? move back home.
2 :
Haha I feel your pain I've lived in Bakersfield my whole my life. Not much to do here is there? Try searching for jobs online. My husband has found several promising ones. Cal State is a pretty good college
3 :
get $ from working and go to college.
4 :
Ok, i know this isn't going to sound great, but take on more hours at walmart. get going fulltime, save your money. rejoice that you have a job, there are MANY out there in the US who dont have and can't find (for whatever reasons) a good steady job, even at such a place as walmart (which DOES definitely suck balls). take that money you've saved and either buy a vehicle to travel to a good school (they're not that few and far between in CA) or look online at schools you can attend right on your comp. also, locally there are always places to go to get your criminial justice, nursing, or accounting certifications. so there ARE options. like i said, consider yourself luck you have a job, a starting point to jump off from.
5 :
try contacting me i m in bakersfield, might be i help u...if u really deserves what ur talkin bout..... imme....aku_0097@yahoo.com
6 :
apply to colleges, because a career in art or fashion design and merchandising will not come looking for you. apply for financial aid, see if walmart offers any help with that. by the way, COLLEGE IS REALLY FUN!! It's hard work but it's also a great time. Just give it a try, at least a 2 year school and I bet you'll like it. There are plenty of colleges in California. If you really hate Bakersfield, you are old enough to go out and find an apartment in the area where you moved from, maybe with an old friend from your old school. You are young, you have lots of options, don't say your life is over!!! Its just beginning.
7 :
I hate to tell you this but, your going to have to bite the bullet and go to a college in Bakersfield, just work through it and get into the Internship that you really want, I know it sucks balls but that is your only way out Think of it this way, your life isn't over, Its just begun, It will be okay, if people can work their way out of the ghetto, you can work your way out of Bakersfield, you just have to want it bad enough If you put your mind to it you can do anything, you just have to not give up,
8 :
At this point, your life is your own and will be what you make of it. If you don't want to go to college, you'd better get used to Wal-Mart. You can study what you want, live where you want, be what you want. Life is your responsibility and yours alone. By the way, your life is just beginning. A life ending is, for instance, someone with a fatal illness.

About Is it possible for me to make it in time for my bus

Is it possible for me to make it in time for my bus?
I recently purchased a train ticket that will take to Bakersfield and from there I'm supposed to get off and go onto a bus to finally reach my destination. But I've never been on a train before so I don't know how it all works. I have 9 minutes to get off the train and find the right bus. 1. Would that be enough time for me to get my luggage and get my ticket and load the bus? 2. Is getting my luggage checked out like at the airport where we have to wait a while to finally get our suitcase again?

Getting from the train to the bus and collecting your bags along the way in just 9 minutes sounds a wee bit tight to me, however buses usually run on a regular, repeating cycle with a bus for each route coming by the station once every 15 to 30 minutes, it should be possible to ride a later bus to get to your destination, but if you are trying to be to be at an appointment on time I would strongly suggest that you take the next earlier train.

About Unemployment for California getting cut off

Unemployment for California getting cut off? HELP?
My mom really needs a job she is a mother of 3 kids. One is 2 years old,I am 14 years old and the oldest is 17 years old. Our unemployment just got cut off and my mom really needed it. (she's been on it for 2 years) and we live in Bakersfield,California. She has a degree in phlebotomy and drawing blood and stuff but there seems to be no jobs she keeps applying for them but they never call her back. What can we do? My 17 year old sister has 2 jobs but they don't give her enough hours (Only 1-2 days a week. She works at taco bell and spencers gifts)

Your mom can go to the local unemployment office and ask one of the counselors to get set up to attend a WIA meeting. This is a meeting where she can tell them what kind of job she wants to get. She she is a phlebotomist she can enroll in an online college course for Medical Billing and Coding. You guys are great in trying to help out. Unemployment also can see if she can get some kind of money also for taking an on-line course and they should have money for that since she can't get unemployment (or Congress is now voting on extensions) right now. Hope this helps. She can also try to get a job at a local clinic or private practice doctor's office. Do you have a Sutter North or Kaiser Hospital she can get a job there?
2 :
Nobody can give you wiser advice than yourself; you will never err if you listen to your own suggestions.

pssh, good luck
2 :
You should apply for some jobs online monster.com snagajob.com hotjobs.com ect..
3 :
try convenient stores
4 :
maybe try somewhere that you can operate a cash register and work in a grocery store, since you have experience operating a cash register and working in a grocery store.
5 :
If i were you i would either work at walmart or save alot because you get atleast 6 dollars a night. and their not cheep like other stores, so have a nice aplication and your welcom good luck!
6 :
well you have customer service experience.....find out property managment companies that are hiring and become an apartment leasing consultant, you don't ususally need previous experience, and they will train you.......I make about $10-$15 P/hr Plus commission on every person that moves into an apartment! its kind of in the sales department but its good because there are a lot of people that are always looking to move into and apartment! plus you get to wear cute business attire and you feel important.....good luck
7 :
Sorry no suggestions for Ca. area but if you lived closer to me I'd hire ya in a instant!
8 :
Are you asking for too much money for the jobs you've applied for? Do you have the experience for those jobs? Have you completely filled out the applications? Do you go into the business' and apply and NOT over the phone?? Keep going back to the prospective employer as the squeaky wheel gets oiled.
9 :
Get your butt up and find one
10 :
I think , bakersfield Ca area does not have much jobs. You should live in the big city for your first entry job. After , you got experience . You should go wherever you want. Bakersfied Ca , has only as gas station that need a cash register job. Beside , farm. Thanks
11 :
Well if you wanted extra money you could do an online job. There are alot out there,I actually do this job online that I really am liking its typistjobs.net.I have tried other online jobs such as amazon, overstock and a casino affiliate job which cost me $300 and made about $20 in a year!!!I was so RIPPED OFF.So I joined this other job and i actually made over $800 in the first month.December is slow though,I hear its slow for many businesses but anyways just thought i'de share this job with you.

Like any other full time college student, the popular choices are either work as a waitress, bartender, or one of the large 24/7 retail stores (Walmart/KMart). Good luck.
2 :
Check out the local newspaper on Sundays, that is when most business post openings. You'd be surprised at the number of part time jobs in offices, customer services, data entry, etc. Also check out Monster or Careerbuilder, they are both great sites.
3 :
You could be a waitress at the most popular (or expensive) resturant in ur town. You could babysit others children. Like put out flyers and say the amount you would like per hour per kid. Make the flyer look good, not just some white paper. That doesn't stand out too much as colored paper. Or if you want you can do both. (just make sure you don't fall asleep when you have kids over. Or a stranger will call. muahahahahahaha. lol, jk. Movie I saw.)

About What colleges would you recommend

What colleges would you recommend?
I live in california so i was looking into the UCs but i dont mind out of state universities. i just want an idea of which colleges to apply to freshman year GPA 4.0 all A's (my school didnt have any AP classes for 9th grade but I took GATE) sophomore GPA 4.22 all A's but low GPA becuase i had a full schedule-9 classes. took all honors and AP available. Junior year GPA 4.429. would have been a 4.5 (school stops the GPA there) but had a full schedule. all AP and Honors available. so the more classes i take, the lower my GPA is. i didnt qualify in NMSQ. does that matter? im taking the SAT in january. varsity tennis, in asb and leadership, officer positions in a few clubs. hospital and tutoring volunteer work, a little here and there as well. top 10% of my class, i dont know my official ranking yet. sorry, this is a little vague and i know im not outstanding but which universities would you recommend? i am the first 4 year graduating class of my high school in bakersfield. i intend to major in biochemistry or premed. or should i go undeclared? thanks. in orchestra and the energy and utility academy at school. did art, yearbook, and debate for a while but i couldnt continue becuase my schedule was really impacted. took 6 years of math up to calculus 2, 4 years everything else, and a few other classes over the summer. comes from low income, asian american family, will be the first to attend college ever. okay. im done with details! thanks in advance!

Anytime you move your benefits will stop ! If you file an appeal it will take about 3 months just to reclaim the one week pay you missed and it's not likely you will win. It is up to you if you want to appeal for that week missed if I was you I wouldn't bother just continue to sent your continued claim forms in so you can get your checks.

food stamps go by the amount of money you both make versus the amount of dependants. If the hispanic lady makes more money with fewer dependents, you and your wife should get food stamps too. Also it is possible that you are being honest about your income and the other's are not. Sorry but try again maybe you can get some food stamps at another time. sorry about you bad luck
2 :
the hispanic lady is not telling the truth to welfare services I'd turn her in
3 :
Sounds like maybe someone is not honest about their income. Sorry for your troubles and hope things improve for you soon.Just keep on trying.
4 :
Please, I urge you to get on board the Fair Tax train! Your situation is a perfect example of how abolishing the IRS and replacing it with a nat'l sales tax will bring more money and more fairness to our country. It wouldn't matter how much the drug dealer down the street makes, he will pay tax on what he SPENDS! Same goes for people who somehow always seem to have a big wad o' cash, but don't file returns like the rest of us.

Wonderful mountains with crystal steams cascading down into tropical paradises. There are also some horrendous cities populated by a subculture of thugs and gangsters. so i guess that ignore those ppl who r doing wrong stuff n jus go 4 the right u think n jus go 4 truth, n first understand the person n then trust kkk i wish it helps u

About I need help starting a job search within Childcare

I need help starting a job search within Childcare?
Hi, I am embarking on a career change in order to be at home more often.(raising my niece with the help of my mom who lives with me.) I have a B.A. in Religious Studies and I will have my 12 units in Child development completed by the end of July. My goal is to work with elementary aged children in the after school hours (2:00 PM-6:00PM) I have only done some preliminary searches but everything I have come across requires that you have classroom experience. I work at the church nursery right now which is a paid position but that is the extent of my classroom time, and it is ages 0-2. Any advice? Also, I am job searching within Bakersfield California, if that makes a difference. Thanks

Also, the group of about twenty or so people I work with on a constant basis are just about the nicest, greatest group of people you could ever hope to assemble in one place, so it makes the actual workday enjoyable...even if the job itself sucks out loud. We're kind of like family....and that makes up for a lot.
