About where in Bakersfield, CA can I get a job

Where in Bakersfield, CA can I get a job?
I've never had a job before, so please be patient with me. I'm fifteen. I have piercings. (That aren't coming out.) I'm on independent studies so I can work any hours. I'm really nice and a great learner. I just really need to help out my family with money and I would like to start working. Can anyone give me some help? I wanted to try Target or Rite Aid, but I'm young and I don't know. Anything will help.

First off, most places of employment require you to be 16. Second, you're going to have to take the piercings out, period. If you're not willing to take them out, kiss the idea of getting a job goodbye.

About where can I file taxes to claim my daughter if I didnt work

Where can I file taxes to claim my daughter if I didnt work?
I want to file my taxes. But most places say you cant file taxes if you didnt work becuz of no taxable income bla bla...but I know that I can cuz I got a student loan and am going to school and I have a daughter thats 2 years old. I want to claim her...I already know I wont get any money but the point is to claim my daughter does anyone know where I can file or what forms to fill out? I live in Bakersfield California if that makes a difference... What I dont understand is why people who have nothing relevant to my question put any input at all. All i want is to know where to file. I didnt make any taxable income I get it so I wont get money I got it. I still have the right to file. All I need is a straight answer as to where or what form to fill thats it. All the other bs means virtually nothing so save it for someone who cares.

1 :
the student loan is not income, and without income, everyone is right, there is no reason to file any income tax return if you want to file simply for the sake of your daughter, it will have absolutely no bearing on anything
2 :
"I already know I wont get any money but the point is to claim my daughter" I don't understant what you mean by "the point is to claim my daughter" Claim her for what??? You said it yourself, you would get nothing so there would be absolutely no point. You have no income, therefore you have nothing to file or claim. Student loans mean nothing, bc you have no income. "Most places" are right and you are wrong. You won't be filing anything this year. If you are not working and you have a daughter, who is supporting you and her? Are you living with parents, a boyfriend..etc? That person is likely able to claim your daughter and possibly you on their taxes. If someone else is eligible to claim your daughter, you have no choice in the matter.
3 :
Just fill out a return. You don't need income to file.
4 :
Instead of getting more money from the taxpayers, you should pay us back for taking care of your child. Obviously you dont do that and are using the government programs, which by the way will all be ended soon.
5 :
If you got a student loan and paid tuition with it, you might actually be eligible for a refund even though you did not work. Please check this out. You can always send in a paper return.
6 :
It sounds like you want to claim your daughter so no one else can? If so, you can file a paper return. With no income, you'll have no return, but it would prevent anyone else from being able to claim your daughter, because the SSN would be used.

We are planning to move to Bakersfield in the future. Looking for tips and suggestions housing, work, things to do. I will be looking for work in food service. Would an apartment in the downtown area be reasonable [price wise, transportation and safety]? I am hoping to get to "know" some folks before I get there. About should I relocate for my job

Should I relocate for my job?
I live in Bakersfield and I work for the baking company Bimbo, there is a job opening in Sacramento for a manager position of a thrift store. I am 21 and I am really intereseted in this job because I will make more money and it will be MY store to manage on my own. The district manager is based out of the bakersfield store and she talked to me about the position and gave me a app. to fill out. If i were to apply for the job and actually get the job, i would have to leave behind my friends and family and go to this big city and live by myself! I sort of don't really have the resources to move right now, but i have a financial aid check coming in the mail that would help a lot with moving expenses, should i apply for the job and move to sacramento?

Cissy, Only you know the answer to this question. But this is a significant time for you - it is the time when you find out if you are ambitious or not. There is nothing wrong with being unambitious and being content where you are.... it's comfortable....but it is often those who reach out for new things that lead the most fulfilling of lives.

About anyone recommend a good therapist in Bakersfield, CA

Anyone recommend a good therapist in Bakersfield, CA?
My husband and I arent having major problems but both of our personalities are not communicative ones. We have a hard time opening up with people and so its hard for us to open up with one another. We had pre-marital counselling last yr which was nice but I wasnt digging the therapist too much. We would like to find someone we can talk to that we both like, that can help us work through our issues. I also have depression problems and suspected Bipolar and I think it would be good for us both to see somebody. To help myself, and to help my husband understand whats going on in my head. Id rather it bring us together rather than push us apart. We live in Bakersfield, CA. Any recommendations?

try working as a stock boy at a grocery store. i used to work at one when i was 15 and i thought it was very physical lifting the heavy boxes of products and stocking them on the shelves and helping the elderly take out the groceries. i also unloaded trucks which was great. I got paid 6 bucks an hours but that was back in 2000 so you might get paid more now since they raised the minumum wage. In the summer i worked full time (40 hours) and got around 200 bucks a week which is good for a fifteen year old.

You could work at UPS. Thats some labor work and it will get your back cracking in no time. Once you move up the ladder they tend to pay really well and your work become less stressful on your body, but it looks like your looking for something like this nature. Once your a driver they pay really well and your simply unloading boxes at locations.

try what ever job you get after getting that job and working for a few months and getting some money then you can think of better job.for a fifteen yrs.old it is not easy to get a job.

You should submit your resume to leading jobsite like www.monster.com, www.careerbuilder.com. Also you should consult local placement consultant in your area. In the meantime, look out for an option to work online. Although it wont pay you like full time job but you can make extra cash in your spare time. I am a part time worker doing work online at home, so I would like to share a link where you can make $600-$1500 in a month working at home. The work need to be done is posting/answering a discussion and uploading any photo/image of your interest. For details visit http://ommc.blogspot.com I will publish few more genuine site in couple of weeks, where you can earn money. You may also write to me at talkofmoney@rediffmail.com (Note: When u are planning for a home based online work, be careful because most of them are scam and ask you to pay initial money. never pay money to any such site.)

Make babysitting flyers using the computer and put them in the library, people's mailboxes, and grocery stores. Drum up more business and keep a notebook to schedule when you do get a customer. Culver's minimum hiring age is 14 with a workers permit. I called many stores because I am looking for a job. This was the response they gave which makes me happy after looking for so long. Find a local one go online and apply and go in store to apply or call and ask if they are hiring. What I did was Google a bunch of business near my home and found their numbers using Google maps or their sites and I called and directly asked if they are hiring and what age do they hire at. Try local grocery stores, pizza parlors, retail stores, fast food restaurants.

About I am a full time worker. the company I work for cut my 40 hr week to 32 hours a week. Is This legal

I am a full time worker. The company I work for cut my 40 hr week to 32 hours a week. Is This legal.?
This is a very large company. They have cut the hours of part-time and full time employees. They tell us that full time is any hours between 32 and 40 hours. There are 3 other location in Bakersfield that are not adapting this function. Is this law or is this just the company trying to save money at our expense. This has lasted a month and a half. My bills are getting behind and I don't think this is fair. Please send and answer asap.
Law & Ethics - 4 Answers
Random Answers, Critics, Comments, Opinions :
1 :
"Law" does not determine the business policy of an independent business, as to how many hours constitute full or part time. Any business has the goal of profit.. fairness is not a legal issue. It would be legal for them to completely shut down the entire company, if they so choose. Many companies make the effort to benefit their employees as a matter of good business sense. Nothing obligates them to do that, as a matter of law.
2 :
i really do not know the answer. i would suggest contacting your state labor board / department of unemployment security and asking too. i kind of suspect that it might be legal. i was once a part time student hourly in college years ago (couple decades and worked a whopping 10 hours a week). manager got irritated because i wouldn't work fill in for other staff that called in / expected i'd miss a course for the sake of my 3.35 cent an hour job. LOL. long story short, he informed he he was cutting my hour for 4 hours a week as a sort of "punishment" to let me know that employment was a fragile and responsible relationship and that favors 2 way street. i would have liked to have telled him to go to H ... but i really needed the money and couldn't do it.
3 :
Yes and its regularly done when a company thinks its business will slow down. Just as they could fire you, and then just hire someone willing to work 32 hours a week. Or Instead of firing 1 worker the company cuts five peoples hours feeling that is better then having to decide which employee to fire.If your objection is strong enough you may go to unemployment and see about what options you might have, like would you be entitled to unemployment benefits if you quit (probably not, but you could ask, as that is called Underemployment and probably varies from State to State); and is quiting a good option if one company begins cutting hours there are probably others in the same field/industry doing the same, its about the normal routine when the economy slowsdown, some sectors more then others.
4 :
Absolutely. In California, as most places, full-time employment is considered to be between 31 and 40 hours per week. As long as they maintain that range, they are fully compliant with labor laws.

About how do I find jobs w/ no work or volunteer experience

I graduated from Bakersfield College this spring & got my Associate's in Accounting. The problem is is that I'm approaching all these businesses in town, filling out applications, & walking out feeling pessimistic 'cause I know they would hire someone else w/ more experience. & my resume is embarrassingly light; no work or volunteer experience. Even some temp agencys require that I need work exp.! Damn! What do I oughta do the next time I respond 2 a "Help Wanted" sign by a store's window or once I registered on Home Depot.com hoping that there's a job available 4 me?

The only way to find jobs like that is just what you're doing. Keep looking, don't give up. Eventually you'll find a job that will hire you because of your lack of experience. Some jobs hire like that because they want their hirees to learn things the way they do it. Just don't give up!
2 :
Just keep plugging away. You need to keep a positive attiude because a negative one will kill you in an interview. You may want to network more and quit just shotgunning your resume to every company in town that has accountants. You're not helping your self-esteem that way. In the meantime, you can get some volunteer experience. I've rarely heard of a non-profit turning away anyone wanting to help. There is also nothing wrong with taking a job for the short term while you look to start your career.
3 :
Have you considered a home business? I have been a tradesman all my life and decided to go out and make my own money. Just beware of all the scams out there. If they tell you "It's get rich fast"....RUN THE OTHER DIRECTION. I have teamed up with a group of great people(mostly stay at home moms), many of which are turning six figure incomes, and are willing to mentor me to achieve my goals. this cost me nothing! I would be happy to introduce you to this group, again, for free if you are interested in controlling your own destiny. copy and paste www.saferhealtherhomes.com (check the spelling if you do this manually), read it over and my contact info is on this site. Best of luck to you in whatever you pursue.....Wes
4 :
Check with a Church, non for profit organization of sorts. That's where I had my first opportunity for work experience when I was a teenager. I already had office skills and received a $20 transportation stipend. I did this one summer and it was all I needed to put the experience on my resume. Best wishes.
5 :
First, try applying at smaller businesses. Typically, their salary offers will be smaller and most experienced employees will expect larger salaries. You might also think of finding somewhere to START volunteering and that can only help your resume and keep your skills growing. It might also open up some opportunities you had not thought about previously. It certainly couldn't hurt, you could gain experience, AND do some good at the same time. What a deal! That being said, it does make me wonder what the heck you did all through school. You sat around every summer with headphones in your ears bobbing your head? Hopefully you did SOMETHING that could be put on a resume.
6 :
Why build some one Else's wealth when you can build your own. Go to push.topgunsuccess.com. personal development, training and a lot of fun.

About Will I save money doing the prep work for new tile and carpet

Will I save money doing the prep work for new tile and carpet?
Hi all. My husband and I live in an 1100 sq/ft house with two bedrooms, 1 bathroom, 1 hallway, a laundry room, small kitchen and big living room. We want to have the whole house tiled with carpet in the two bedrooms. When our puppies were growing up they discovered the worn holes in the old carpet and decided to make them bigger, tearing into them like an Easter Ham. (The house is about 26 yrs old and the carpet is at least 10 yrs old) We are on a budget and are looking for options to save money on installation and materials. We are looking at tile and carpet that costs about $1 per sq/ft and would like to get it installed by someone. 1) Would we really save money doing prep work ourselves? How much would this entail?: Im imagining pulling up the old carpet, pulling out the wood bits and nails, clearing out all the furniture, sweeping... cant think of what else. Is it worth the savings? 2) How much would it be to get it installed? We live in Bakersfield, CA. BTW thats tile throughout the house and carpet in the two bedrooms (not carpet tiles) We have thought about doing it ourselves. Maybe we need to revisit that. We have both laid tile before but not carpet. Id rather leave that to professionals cos I dont know it. The main reason why we wanted to get it installed is because it is the whole house not just one room and 5 professionals can come in and do it a lot faster and easier than my husband and I ever could. It would take us weeks and weeks. But maybe we can get relatives to help.

doing the demo is about all i reconmend. The tile base, leave it up to the installer for warrent issue ( and thay know what the want to have as a backer ) Dont know abour Cali prices but nationaly about $ 8 to $10 per sq/ft. get three est imates and pick between the middle and top one.
2 :
Unfortunately there isn't a whole lot of labor involved in pulling up carpet, so you really won't save much. If you do pull up the carpet leave the tack strips in the bedroom where you are having carpet put down. Also wear a mask old carpet can be bad when pulling up. I did it once in a rental house I was fixing up to sell, just to get rid of the smell. I saved a whole hundred bucks minus trip to dump. Depending on the quality you looking at 2-4 dollars a ft. for carpet and about the same for tile especially if you want a diamond or brick pattern laid down
3 :
I`m with Scooby, in that, you may not save much doing the prep yourself. Depends on the installer. When I was laying carpet it was a "given" that I would do it All included in the price of the carpet. This is Not to say the Store did`nt charge for it `tho, so be careful of hiring an installer through a store. I Would however Go to a carpet store and ask them how much an installer gets for the work you mentioned. You can also get business cards of installers in your area at that time. If you *Really* want to save a Bunch, why not Do-It-Yourself? I mean the installation.........? If you find you just Can`t Do a step or three *Then* call in the Pros. As mentioned earlier, I have Years of experience installing both floor tile and carpet, as well as ceramic tile for baths etc. If you`d like to DIY I`ll be glad to share what I know. You can send me pics or diagrams to my email and I can help you step-by-step with it. I`m not sure if pics can be posted in here. Anybody? Good Luck with it! I *Know* you will be proud of it. RT.

Is it legal for a time clock to round off?
I work in bakersfield Ca and the time clock at my work rounds off rather than keeps exact time when I clock in at 5 till I lose that 5 min every day then when im done at the end of day it must be 9 min past to round up so I usually either wait or lose 5 mor min equalling 10 min each day
Law & Legal - 4 Answers

1 :
Normally, pay is calculated by rounding hours to the nearest quarter hour.
2 :
yes, in most states it can round in 6 minute increments.
3 :
YES........................ if it does it must work both ways if it rounds down at a certain number of minutes it must round up accordingly. example if you clock in at 8 minutes after the hour and it rounds to 15 minutes after it must then round back to the top of the hour when you clock in at 7 minutes after or less. time clocks must also show the actual time punch and use the round figures for pay purposes only. time can not be rounded to larger time frames then 15 minutes. California is one of the few states that allows a penalty for tardiness. employees pay can be docked for 30 minutes when they are late for any amount of time less then 30 minutes. any amount of time they are late over 30 minutes is adjusted to the amount of time they are actually late but for being 5 minutes late the employer can change that time to a full 30 minutes late for pay purposes. California Labor Code 2928
4 :
Yes most time clock round off

you should just babysit. i got lucky and i worked at a skating rink for a few years till i got old enough. babysitting is easy money and they dont take out taxes. thats the best part!
